Quote:To start, I will state that Marauders should stay as the PVE kings of Eve. Well, rather be made the PVE kings that they were intended to be. Of course, they'll have some PVP possibilities, but would remain niche, as their fist iteration design of Marauders was intended for.
So, instead of options, there should be exactly one ship type that is used for PVE.
It was a stupid idea when CCP first implemented it and it's still stupid.
Furthermore, your suggestion amounts to "HACs, but better". |

Quote: Yes, except that HACs are a front line class ship.. They're the rangers, while Raiders would be Delta Force.
One is meant for advanced front line combat with potential for light assaults.
While Delta Force is intended to launch attacks to cripple the enemy from behind, while having potential for front line combat.
HACs would still be faster and would have more damage application due to weapon sizes.
While they may seem similar to someone who actually does no actual comparison, someone who can see behind the curtain can see the difference, and the different potential uses.
You're being ridiculously vague.
Give me an example of what constitutes a "light assault" as opposed to "front line combat" in EVE. Furthermore, if HACs are faster and more agile than these new ships, then in what sense are the new ships better at raiding/harrassing? |

You haven't defined what a "light assault" is. The only possible task I can see this helping with is ganking ratters/miners in nullsec, but there are tons of ships that can already do this anyway.
Quote: Also, the higher dps of raiders would allow them to either use less ships, or have more damage to hit hard targets.
What's a "hard target"? I hope you aren't suggesting they'd be used to hit POSes. |

Quote:The only time I mention light assault is when I mentioned rangers, but I did not use that to define these ships, so the term has no context.
So you've stlil failed to actually mention what this ship would actually be for, other than an overpowered HAC with a jump drive.
Quote:Also, a hard target could be a POS if you wanted it to be, but probably not. However, a Titan or other capital could be.
So wait. In your mind, a gang of these things are going to sneak attack lone titans and kill them before reinforcements arrive, and jump away?
What?
Quote:Furthermore, stop trying to knit pick words and instead focus on the design
You don't have a design. The entirety of the OP talks about raiding and yet you haven't actually even mentioned what this ship would actually be good at raiding and, when pressed, you responded with vague comparisons to rangers and delta force.
What precisely could be raided with this ship? |

Sheesh you're a hard headed individual. I am not the person that would state what needs to be raided.
You seem to miss the point of what raiding actually is. If you want to raid something, you raid it... I can give an example, and that is all.
You can't just post a suggestion and say "It's up to everyone else to figure out how my suggestion would be useful or improve the game". If you can't come up with a valid use case then your suggestion would just be a waste of developer time.
Quote:Perhaps you opponent have a security roam that you want to hit. Perhaps you have intel on a heavy mining op. Perhaps you want to knock out a structure or capital ship of some sort.
Killing capitals and structures does not count as "raiding", as doing so involves sitting in one place for extended periods of time.
Black ops gangs (or, indeed, pretty much any gang you could possibly muster) already do a fine job of killing miners.
The first one doesn't make sense.

Which intended target do you foresee that being used to hit?
So I lured my enemy to one of their POSes, so now I can...do what? Attack their other POS? They'd still have more than enough time to respond. |
